Mini-Opera: Cinderella

  • Lippulaivan kirjasto Espoonlahdenkatu 8 02320 Espoo Finland (kartta)

The stepsisters head off to the ball, hoping to win the prince's favor, but Cinderella is left at home to vacuum – her stepmother hopes the prince will come to their house for the after-party. Fortunately, a magic flute conjures up a stunning evening gown for Cinderella, and soon, the partygoers are marveling at the mysterious beauty dancing in glass slippers.

The familiar story of Cinderella is now presented as a delightfully contemporary half-hour mini-opera, set to Rossini's lively music. The tale is brought to life by two versatile singers, two acting musicians, and expressive puppet characters. The roles are played by soprano Johanna Isokoski, baritone Olli-Tapio Tikkanen, flutist Martta Jämsä and guitarist Kasperi Leponiemi.

This cheerful mini-opera is suitable for everyone over the age of 2. The performance lasts about 30 minutes.

Directed by Juhani Koivisto, set and costume design by Anna Kontek.
