VocalEspoo

The first VocalEspoo, now held every other year, was organised by the Espoo Cultural Centre in 1992 and was known at the time as ChoralEspoo. Over the years, all the leading Finnish choirs and vocal ensembles have taken part, along with a large band of first-rate performers from abroad. ChoralEspoo became VocalEspoo in 2014, the organiser having decided that the new name would better describe the nature of the festival as a showcase for all kinds of vocal music. Over the years, many eminent vocal music specialists have served as Artistic Director, among them Matti Hyökki, the Club for Five vocal ensemble, and Pasi Hyökki. The Artistic Director of the 2022 festival, now being held for the 15th time, is Taavi Oramo.
